TEACHING

My teaching style is one that treats every student as an individual who is creative in their own right while acknowledging the importance of body conditioning, and teamwork. I work to empower students with both physical and mental knowledge of dance in the areas for which I have been trained; these include ballet, acrobatics, improvisation, contemporary, and modern (Cunningham, Limon, and some Horton).
My teaching experience includes 9 years of teaching ballet with Good Moves for students ages 7 to 18 and creative movement for ages 3 to 6. I have taught modern and contemporary dance for the Summer Dance Intensive at Binghamton University (through Danita Emma) and also for Riverside Dance Festival in Vero Beach, FL. Fun fact, I teach acrobatics with a focus on beginner tumbling and human pyramids and had the opportunity to share this knowledge with students at Good Moves Summer Dance Intensive, the Riverside Dance Festival, and Circus Camp at The Howard School in Atlanta, GA. I enjoy passing along my art form and paying it forward.
I believe dance, acrobatics, and circus can teach not only good physical health practices, but also important social skills involving teamwork, leadership skills, personal discipline, and mental awareness and wellness.

As much as I am a teacher, I am also a student, because I find that as our world progresses and changes, so do the needs of our youth. I am continually inspired and humbled by the students I have gotten to work with and they help me to continue to innovate my teaching. I love sharing the tools I have learned from being a student and seeing how they pass on and develop in the hands of the next generation.
